BEFORE

Today is 02/13/2013, Monday.
I will be doing bi-weekly check-ins to monitor my progress.

As of today I weigh 165.
My waist is 36 inches.
Current BMI: 28.3 (meaning I am in the "Overweight" category)

My goals:
  • I have no defined number in my head when it comes to a goal weight. I think it's hard to determine that consider muscle weighs more than fat, and my body has probably changed a lot over the years in terms of which weight will look like what on my frame. It has been over 5 years or so since I was at a reasonable weight and that was around 130 lbs. That would amount to losing 35 lbs.
  • In order to at least minimally get into the "Normal" weight BMI category, I would AT LEAST need to reach 140 lbs.
  • I have done some research and apparently the biggest indicator of poor health is belly fat. It is intrinsically linked to heart related disease, stress, glucose disorders like diabetes, and it's a high indicator of overall high body fat percentage. I personally have a ginormous belly. I, I am not kidding, been asked when I was due or been confused for a pregnant woman 3 times already. It's odd because ultimately I'm not THAT big. I'm not Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition big. Yet my belly does protrude. It's gotten so bad that even wearing pants is a difficulty because I can't find anything small enough to fit my small frame and short height, that still has the size waist band I need. Regardless of what I find, it seems all waistbands, in order to be tight enough to slide right off, dig into my fat and cause the muffin-top effect and look incredibly unattractive. To top it all off I have Irritable Bowel syndrome and my stomach tends to bloat during particularly bad episodes. Long story short I would love to be gutless. I have Googled endlessly about what a good recommended waist measurement should be, and whereas the consensus is that it depends on the individual, it also seems to that a healthy rule of thumb is that your waist should be half the inches of your height. My height is 5'3.5", which is 63.5 inches. Accordingly my waist should be 31.75 inches or smaller. That means I have over 4 inches to lose in my waist.
As I said I will do bi-weekly check ins with my weight and waist measurement on Mondays, and I will upload new photos monthly.
